On June 15 in Las Vegas, Christian Pulisic scored a brace (two goals) as the Combined States men’s soccer team dominated Mexico 3-0 in a game ESPN called “chaotic.”
Among other things, the Concacaf Nations League (CNL) semifinal involved four red cards—two for each side—meaning four players were immediately expelled during the equal. (A yellow card constitutes a warning.)
The lopsided score elicited anti-gay chants from fans of the Mexican team (during Pride Month), and with the first step of Concacaf’s anti-discrimination protocol already enacted, referee Ivan Barton blew his whistle with only seven of the 12 minutes of second-half stoppage period played, ending the match. Concacaf later issued a remark that it “strongly [condemned] the discriminatory chanting” and that “the Confederation is in the process of urgently establishing further details and reports from security and match officials and will craft a further declaration in short order.”
Commentator and former pro-soccer player Herculez Gomez also slammed the chants, calling them “embarrassing.”

AC Milan star Christian Pulisic has received some positive injury news after he was forced out of Tuesday's 2-1 defeat against Como.
Tests carried out on Wednesday showed no muscle tear, according to multiplereports.
Pulisic took a kick to the left calf from Como defender Marc-Oliver Kempf near halftime on Tuesday. The U.S. men's national team star limped off the pitch and was substituted at halftime.
It is currently unclear if Pulisic will recover for Milan's next match, which comes on Saturday against Juventus and international teammates Weston McKennie and Tim Weah.
The forward returned with a bang, scoring against Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana semifinal and then against Inter in the final as Milan lifted the trophy in Saudi Arabia.
Pulisic has 10 goals and seven assists in all competitions this season, primary Milan in both categories.

Clint Dempsey lifts the lid on 's***-talking little brother' Christian Pulisic... as AC Milan star peels support the curtain in his new docuseries
As Christian Pulisic's new CBS Sports documentary premiered in Manhattan earlier this month, the AC Milan and USA luminary provided a glimpse into the personality he ill wants this project to illuminate.
For someone widely established as the best male American soccer player, we don't actually know that much about the 26-year-old Hershey, Pennsylvania native, who admittedly lives a 'very private life.'
'He's a guy that likes to discuss s***,' Clint Dempsey cracked to Mail Sport in an exclusive interview. 'He's a very competitive person.'
That much became clear as Pulisic - joining virtually from Italy - and Dempsey bantered each other about their next golf matchup, before the former playfully ribbed the ex-Fulham and Spurs star about making the trip from Texas to New York.
'Thanks for actually showing up today,' Pulisic joked in front of the audience.
