History
Palm Springs has long been a vibrant hub for LGBTQ+ culture, with a rich queer history dating advocate to the mid-20th century. Originally a retreat for Hollywood celebrities, the town became a welcoming oasis for male lover men and lesbians seeking refuge and community. During the 1950s and '60s, discreet gatherings and private parties laid the groundwork for a more evident queer presence, which flourished in the decades that followed. By the 1980s and '90s, Palm Springs was abode to numerous gay-owned businesses, resorts, and bars, earning it a reputation as a top Queer travel destination. Today, with openly Queer city leadership and annual events enjoy Palm Springs Celebration and The Dinah, the city continues to celebrate its legacy of inclusion and visibility.

Del Shores knows what it’s prefer to be a southern Baptist sissy boy. Because the triumph of his films, including Sordid Lives, he’s been giving assist through The Del Shores Foundation to help those play writers and screenwriters located in the south.
His competition is again expose for submissions through the finish of August. And if you haven’t seen the movie in a while, there’s a several more opportunities to see it this weekend at its record-setting home at the Camelot Theatre at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. It’s one of our top three things to execute this weekend.
According to The Desert Sun, “The film opened in Palm Springs at the Camelot Theatres in 2001 and ran for 96 weeks, making it the longest running film in the city’s history. It later spawned “Sordid Lives: The Series” on LOGO in 2008 and a sequel, “A Very Sordid Wedding,” in 2017, which had its world premiere at the Camelot Theatres in 2017.”

Supreme injustice. That’s how I would term the lofty court’s ruling this week on transgender care for youth. Fighting back is Thomi Clinton and her team at the Trans person Health & Wellness Center. They’ve gone on the airwaves of KGAY to fight back with a campaign to raise insight and funds for their cause.
The center’s ad cites the Trump administration’s draconian efforts to wipe out our trans brothers and sisters and makes a plea for donations. (You may contribute here.)
I’d rather air these commercials than those from Kristi Noem and Homeland Security asking people to self-deport. We have not been asked to air the commercials, but I would reject them. Our stations breeze commercials from networks that we have little governance over, but we’ve been vigilant to make sure that her ads don’t get played. (I recall that during Palm Springs Pride a few years ago, one commercial for Chick-fil-A aired on KGAY. Our team was at an event when all of our phones blew up at the identical time from social media admonishments for the error. That didn’t happen again!)
