Pavel Petel, Russian Pop Identity Staple
Philosophy (translation so not 100% perfect) by Pavel:
SCALE loops
In my opinion, people are divided into three categories.
I invented for a so-called Scale Petel:
1. "Happy" fuckers.
HAPPY word is in quotes because that is these people are not really, but they reside well. Do not glimpse the world, do not know the real pleasure of a happy being, they feel that they are doing well.
It's losers. But because of their immaturity, they consider themselves lucky. As they speak - smaller brains, the wider the smile.
All of us have been (or still is not) this level.
2. Smart and accidents.
They realized that the true surrounds them, see how people live and believe. But the routine office work, family, loved ones, alcohol and other causes them to calm down and accept the truth that those who are higher - take their place on the right. Encouraging ourselves thinking a la "But we are smart, talented, hipsters and all that."
From awareness of everything that is happening around and the lofty level of intelligence / education, this category is most worried about because of the injustice. They feel that their influence is deceiving, that the majority of peop
Russia 'anti-gay' law brings fear to community
Foreign activists are gearing up for widespread gestures of demonstration during the games, which has brought fear to Russian homosexuals.
For Pavel Petel, that fear has transformed his once openly gay lifestyle.
An extraordinary figure in Russia, Mr Petel has built a career as an openly gay production artist, publicly flaunting the bare minimum, wearing big heels and wigs.
Now Mr Petel worries about his safety and fears arrest.
He says the only way to exist in Russia is to change his way of life.
"I'm scared to come to the streets now wearing wigs or heels, I wear them much more rarely," he said.
Traditionally a conservative region, Russia has never been one to embrace gay rights.
In Russia, homosexuality was decriminalised 20 years ago, however, since then, parliament has passed an anti-gay propaganda law, making it illegal to promote gay relationships to children.
In Moscow, the gay scene is often referred to as "ghetto", with the population forced to stay in secrecy.
"They're not imposed to endure in the ghetto but they undergo more comfortable because they can.. you kn
A gay Russian model who was often the target of homophobic attacks for wearing women’s clothes has died in a vehicle crash that also killed two others.
Pavel Petel had been thrashed up together with his partner in their home Moscow and he had also accused the government of encouraging homophobia.
He said that he and Sergey Ostrikov were “lucky to be alive” after being beaten up and complained that people in the region were very “aggressive towards gays”.
He also added that ever since, he had become more concerned for his safety, saying he had even seen general figures on television calling for the need to burn the hearts of homosexuals.
In an interview with American channel CNN five years ago he also admitted that while continuing to act he had become more terrified and added: “I’m afraid to do what I used to. I’ll probably change. I’m scared to go out onto the streets now wearing wigs or heels. I’ve started to wear them much more rarely.”
He said even in the Soviet era “life was easier” and added “there was no pressure to make you chose who you are.”
But now Sergey has posted a messag

A while back I ran an Instagram account dedicated solely to posting the weirdest art images I could possibly find. I had images of gay Jesus, frogs made out of French Fries… all types of crazy shit.
And then I stumbled upon this, perhaps the single strangest image I’ve ever encountered:
What. Is. Going. On? I asked myself. Why is this muscular fellow in a mankini and a blonde wig pushing a maniacal disabled kid in a wheelchair holding two AK-47s?
After some investigation (well, a quick Google search really), I found myself grave within the planet of Russian recital artist and LGBTQI activist Pavel Petel. Petel’s images are amazing: humorous, remarkable, thoughtful… he plays with his gender and body with a skill and sense of refinement that is reserved only for the very best artists.
His body is a work of Pop Art, and it’s on par with anything I’ve seen.
Since Russia’s recent anti-gay laws, and Vladimir Putin’s cynical ploy of ostracising the country’s gay collective to score political points, Petel has recently struggled in a countr
